The pair are said to have shared a heated exchange after Andre called Katie on her mobile phone to sort out access to their children and Reid answered the phone.

It was claimed the cage-fighter threatened to ’sort out’ the Australia singer after launching a tirade of abuse.

But Price has defended her new lover, saying today: ‘Pete said, “I’m gonna break your f***ing legs  -  watch your back”. Alex is a gentle guy and Pete is not the sweet guy he always portrays.’

‘His true colours are starting to come out, thank God.’

The pair, who have two children together, Princess Tiiaamii, two, and Junior, four (Harvey is from Katie’s previous relationship with footballer Dwight Yorke) will then have only six weeks to change their minds before a decree absolute is granted by the Family Division of the High Court in central London.

Peter, 36, is believed to have filed his papers first, but when Jordan – Katie Price – found out she also instructed her solicitors to take action.

The situation, known as cross decrees, is unusual but it will make no difference to the quickie divorce or any financial deal or parental rights.

Such cases only occur in about one out of every 400 divorces, usually reflecting the most acrimonious splits.

Last night a family lawyer reportedly told The Sun newspaper said: “It’s quite sad really and nothing more than a petty snipe from Ms Price. It’s her way of saying, ‘I am not allowing you to divorce me – instead I am going to divorce you.’

‘It’s just a way of sticking your fingers up at your ex through legal process. It’s about emotion – nothing else.’

The cross decrees are filed as Price K v Andrea P J – Pete’s real surname. And the case number is FD09D03082. Judge Bradley will hear the case in court six of the High Court in London.

Katie Price lost the tv rating wars battle with her ex Peter Andre last week.

The viewing figures for her new reality TV show What Katie Did Next debut last Thursday was trumped by Peter’s new show Going It Alone.

Katie’s show pulled in 1.3million viewers on ITV2, rising to 1.5million in the last 15 minutes, which was considerably less than the 1.7million who watched Peter’s show the previous week.

This is said to have surprised Katie who had always declared that she was the more famous one in the relationship.

“Don’t bring your baggage to the stage, Pete!” barks Peter Andre’s choreographer, irate that a T4 on the Beach appearance has resulted inHarold Lloyd-style woe.

Andre’s emotional “baggage” might cast a shadow over pop performances, but it’s a ray of sunshine for ITV2. This week’s all-access divorce-umentary Peter Andre: Going it Alone gleaned the channel’s highest rating of the year: 1.2 million viewers. Dry your eyes mate, where there’s misery there’s money. Sadly, for some viewers, 95 minutes of Andre’s “feelings and emotions” possibly seemed like an arduous task. Don’t fret, here’s the five-point recap.

1. Peter goes to Ikea

Peter needs new tea-towels and tea-lights for his big, new, empty, Katie Price-less house. He’s clearly in the grip of breakup hell; eyes puffy, cheeks heavy, distracted. What Pete needs to perk him up is a trip to Ikea accompanied by two managers, his brother and an ITV2 camera crew. A trip which causes so much fuss that the staff actually get on the roof to cheer “PETER! PETER!” as he leaves. Misery loves company.

2. Peter unveils his new single

Pete affords us the pleasure of new single Behind Closed Doors. The lyrics, he says, are “very personal”. If only we knew what went on in Pete’s marital home “behind closed doors”, we’d see his story in a different light. On first listen the track sounds like TK Maxx Justin Timberlake, but after two dozen more plays over the course of 95 minutes it hypnotises you into meek acceptance. 

“Behind closed doors!” Peter sings, rocking out mournfully to the pithy chorus. The fact Peter and Katie haven’t so much as broken wind “behind closed doors” since 2004’s I’m a Celebrity … clearly evades him. During subsequent scenes, Pete continues to hint of a TERRIBLE SECRET REASON he has for leaving his wife that he will NEVER EVER TELL.

3. Peter throws a barbecue

Peter doesn’t organise his barbecue properly. The burgers are burned.The bouncy castle isn’t bouncy in time. The guestlist is slapdash.Chantelle, her-who-was-married-to-Preston, shows up and picks the black bits off a sausage, sadly. The Andre kids, Junior and Princess, receive another televised pep talk from Peter about how mummy and daddy love them both very much and they’re so lucky to have all these different homes! Junior doesn’t look convinced. He’s five years old, but even he can see through all this crap.

The voiceover reminds us that eldest child Harvey isn’t at the barbecue as Katie has “refused permission to let him be filmed”. Oof. Messing up each other’s reality TV filming schedules? THE CRUELLEST BLOW OF ALL! 

4. Peter meets Chris Moyles

Peter is booked for the Radio 1 breakfast show. Peter leaps from the people carrier, bushy tailed and wide-eyed whooping “This is where it all starts!” His joy is quelled by Moyles playing Peter’s 2004 track Insania. Peter is deeply ashamed of Insania and does not want to speak of its chipper cod-Caribbean take on mental illness ever again. Moyles talks endlessly about the split and Katie’s Piers Morgan interview and Peter crawls inside his emotional shell again. If there was a sound effect to sum up this section it would be a party kazoo stopping mid-parp.

I feel like calling ITV2 and inviting Peter to live in my spare room. We could play scrabble and I’d make soup. No one would need to film it. 

5. Peter Andre plays T4 on the Beach

Tension mounts backstage. “Focus Pete! Focus!” warns Peter’s management. This is a very very very important performance which will bring Behind Closed Doors to a whole new audience of pop purchasers. Pete saunters on stage to wild applause … but within a minute manages to fall off a set of stairs clumsily into the audience, knocking his earpiece off and his sunglasses wonky. “I don’t think you should have done that,” the woman from his management company suggests helpfully as Pete sits backstage, head in hands. 

The documentary closes on a sombre note. Stay tuned viewers – there’s bound to be lots more.

Andre told The Sun newspaper  ”In the last 10 days, I’ve turned a corner. When someone mentions Kate, where it used to stab me in the heart, it just doesn’t hurt anymore.

“I’m not saying I am a barrel of laughs now, but I must be over it. I am not hurting at all.”

He added: “I can see myself with someone now. I haven’t met anyone yet, but I can in the future. Since I have started feeling better, I am thinking I could.”

The Daily Mail claims her new boyfriend Alex Reid has banned her from even LOOKING at pictures of her ex Peter Andre.

During a furious row, cage fighter Alex Reid accused her of being obsessed with poring over newspapers and magazines to see shots of her estranged hubby.

And he has ordered Katie – busy plugging her new novel at a book-signing in Bournemouth yesterday – to “forget him”.

A pal says he raged at her: “He’s the father of your children — and NOTHING else.”

Thankfully it was just his car that broke down when it ran out of petrol. The singer was collecting son Junior from a local karate lesson in Brighton when his Bentley ran out of fuel. Pete was forced to find a local garage and return to his car with a petrol can.

According to the UK tabloid paper The Daily Mirror, the glamour model’s friends told Andre that she had offered to perform a sex act on James in a nightclub toilet nearly two years ago.  The shocking  revelation is thought to have triggered a breakdown in trust between the couple leading to Andre’s request for Price not to go out drinking without him.

Recalling Price’s alleged behaviour at London’s Movida nightclub, a source revealed: “Katie was hammered and determined to let her hair down. She was in the VIP section drinking heavily when she bumped into Duncan. She virtually launched herself at him, grinding up and down against him, and grabbing his crotch.

“Duncan was flirting back in a pretty innocuous way and kept reminding her she was a married woman. But Katie was having none of it and continued to make crude sexual gestures. She was bragging about her sexual prowess.

“She made some comment about not getting enough sex and basically suggested she took him into the toilets for a sexual treat he’d never forget. Duncan seemed unsure whether she was joking or not. But he reminded her again that she was married and declined her offer.”

Katie Price reportedly kept details of the proposition under wraps for almost two years before her pals finally spilled the beans.

The source continued: “Next day Katie was desperate to bury her actions and adamant that Pete must never find out. But eventually word got back and not surprisingly he felt humiliated and appalled. It broke him in two.

“It wasn’t the final straw but was most definitely a huge factor in their break-up – and one reason why he’ll never go back to her.”

‘Can I just say that you’d have to be pretty sick in the head to end your marriage just to sell records! As if I would ever do something like that.

‘It’s true that a few of the songs on my album are about problems in our relationship, but when I wrote those songs I actually wanted Kate to listen to them and take note so we could rectify our problems.’

He is also angered by Katie Price’s suggestion that their son Junior cried when it was time to go and stay with him.

‘I really don’t know how to react to comments like this any more,’ he writes.

‘Kate has been putting me down for five and half years and it’s a real shame she doesn’t see fit to stop it now we’re not even together.

‘She makes jibes at me constantly and it really upsets me that she uses the kids to do it.’

Andre says he feels as if Katie has now completely changed from the woman he married.

‘I don’t even feel like I know her any more,’ he wrote. ‘I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again: I loved Katie Price but she left the building a long time ago now.”
